After an early breakfast, we drive 45 minutes north to Arusha National Park for a morning game drive around the Momella Lakes. Pink flamingos feed in the shallow water while bushbucks and waterbucks drink along the grassy edges.

An armed park ranger joins us for a two-hour walking safari through the wooded hills, giving you a chance to see giraffes and black-and-white colobus monkeys on foot. In the afternoon, we stop at an open picnic table for lunch before driving back to your Arusha hotel by 4:30 PM.

We pick you up at 8:00 AM and drive southwest along the main highway to Tarangire National Park. Our guide opens the pop-up roof of the vehicle as soon as we enter the park gate, allowing you to stand and look across the grassy plains.

Tarangire is known for large elephant herds that gather near wide baobab trees and dig in dry river soil for clean water. By 5:00 PM, we bring you to your luxury tented lodge inside the park, where our camp staff welcomes you with a cool drink and carries your bags to your room.

We begin our game drive at 6:30 AM to see predators before the sun warms up the open plains. Lions and cheetahs often move through the tall grass in the morning, making it the best time to see them walk and hunt.

We pause at midday for a warm lunch at an outdoor picnic spot while watching zebras and impalas feed nearby. During the afternoon, we follow the Seronera River to watch hippos resting in deep water pools and crocodiles lying on muddy banks.

Today covers about 90 kilometers (56 miles) of flexible animal tracking over 7 hours across flat grasslands and rocky hills. Sightings include lions, leopards, hyenas, and topis, with all meals (B, L, D) served at your luxury tented camp.

After an early breakfast, we take a morning game drive as we leave the Serengeti and travel back toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We reach the crater rim and drive 600 meters straight down the steep road to the crater floor.

The crater floor is home to rare black rhinos, large elephant bulls, hyenas, and thousands of wildebeest living together in a natural volcanic bowl. We stop for lunch beside a hippo pool, then climb back up the steep walls by late afternoon to stay at a luxury lodge perched right on the rim.

  • Drive summary: 160 kilometers (99 miles) taking 4 hours on rough gravel tracks plus 4 hours of crater floor driving

Customizing Your 8-Day Tanzania Luxury Safari Tour Package

You can adjust this itinerary to match your personal interests, flight times, and room needs. Because this is a private tour, we can alter each day before you confirm your reservation.

Serengeti Hot Air Balloon Flight

On Day 6, you can add an early morning hot air balloon flight over the Seronera River valley. You float above the plains for one hour at sunrise, then land in the grass for a hot breakfast with fresh fruit and eggs.

Zanzibar Beach Extension

Many travelers choose to fly from Arusha to Zanzibar on Day 8 instead of flying home right away. We can arrange your domestic flight and book three or four nights at a beach resort along the Indian Ocean.

Family Rooms and Connecting Tents

If you are traveling with children, we can select lodges that provide large family suites or side-by-side tents with connecting doors. This gives parents and children their own beds while keeping everyone safe under one roof.

Comparing the 5 Parks on This Safari Circuit

This 8-day route visits five distinct parks, each offering different plant life, landscapes, and animal behaviors. This table shows what makes each park unique during your trip.

Packing and Daily Vehicle Comfort in Tanzania

Our safari Land Cruisers are built to make long drives on rough dirt roads as comfortable as possible. Each vehicle has soft bucket seats, big sliding windows, and an on-board electrical inverter so you can charge your phone and camera while driving.

Temperatures change quickly throughout the day. Early mornings in Ngorongoro and Serengeti are chilly, often dropping to 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit), while afternoons in Tarangire can reach 28 degrees Celsius (82 degrees Fahrenheit). Dressing in layers lets you take off a warm fleece jacket when the sun gets strong.

Dry season roads produce fine dust, so we advise bringing a light scarf and a dust bag for your camera lenses. We also keep a cool box full of chilled water and fruit juices inside the vehicle so you stay hydrated during warm afternoon game drives.
